Mixing, granulation, emulsifying, coating drying, reacting – all applications in the area of industrial mixing and related technologies in all sectors of industry

LÖDIGE
Mixing

Lödige is offering a large variety of mixing systems for industrial applications. For these applications dynamic compulsory mixers are used exclusively. Both horizontal mixers and vertical systems are available. In the first case the mixing shaft and the tools are horizontally installed, thus achieving, at corresponding movement, a product reaching from a loose product bed up to a mechanically generated fluidised bed. In the second case the mixing shaft is installed in vertical direction, whereby a socalled vortex is built at corresponding movement. The installation of fast-rotating chopper heads enables the mixing of products tending to lump formation. Due to the mixing tools, the material to be mixed is hereby specifically fed to the activity area of the chopper head.

Reacting

Unlike the processes described above, drying in a fluid bed results from convection. The inlet air is headed prior to inflow into the Fluid Bed Processor. It homogeneously flows through the special designed Conidur® bottom and fluidizes the product. This ensures an excellent heat transfer and high drying rate.

Granulation

Lödige mixing systems are applied in the field of buildup agglomeration.

The mixing tools are hereby generating a mechanical fluid bed. In many cases a liquid serving as a binding agent is added to the primary particles in the fluid bed. The liquid is homogeneously distributed in the material by means of the mixing mechanism. In some cases, the mixing process may be supported by applying of chopper heads. The intensive mixing process makes for multitudinous contacts of the primary particles among each other. The adhesive force will thus become operative, and the primary particles will be combined to granulates/agglomerates. The final size and the grain size distribution can be influenced by the binding agent quantity, residence time, speed and other machine parameters.

Drying

Drying is defined by removing or reducing liquid components (moisture) from or in bulk solids by thermal processing. The moisture is evaporated and removed.

Coating

Lödige has developed, manufactured and sold Coating Systems since 1980. Lödige Coaters have been supplied worldwide for a multitude of applications. The main focus of applications still remains in the pharmaceutical industry, but has progressed to other industrial applications in the meantime.

Lödige Coaters operate on the co-current, under-pressure principle and are ideal for film and sugar coat-ing of tablets, pellets, granules and other formed products. Drying air is blown into the centre of the drum by an air inlet system projecting into the drum and flows in the same direction as the spray mist of coating solution onto the tablet bed. This process is achieved in Lödige coaters in both partially perforated coating drums and totally perforated coating drums.

Emulsifying

Our new Dispersing Mixer works in accordance with the practice-proven mixing principle of the Lödige horizontal Ploughshare®-Mixer. Fitted with an homogenisator, it is suitable for processing semisolids and paste-like products like cosmetic and pharmaceutical creams, toothpaste, etc. The homogenisator, flanged in the discharge, is a high-speed rotor-stator system (up to 6000 rpm) of well-known make. The horizontal mixing shaft is fitted with scrapers operating at the mixer wall.
